A Guide to Coping with s Changes for Sellers.

OK, Lets face it. The new changes in okay are very drastic and are affecting us all in one way or another. To some, the changes are positive and possibly even making our business seemingly grow while for others, it seems like the end of our rope. I have been reading the Posts and have seen a very gemon trend. I have seen some very fine sellers throwing in the towel with disgust over these new changes that have unfairly targeted their bottom line. I know that it was not okay's intentions to affect the honest, hardworking and ethical sellers of which there are many. Have you ever heard that in order to make positive changes and weed out the bad apples, sometimes there are innocent casualties that get caught in the middle? Well, I would just like to tell you that you do not have to be one of these so called casualties. If you bear with me on this one, I will help you formulate a plan that may help you hang tough and ride the storm until it all settles and the waters begee calm again. There is nothing magical or geplicated about what I am about to share with you. In fact, I am sure that you are well familiar with this information and this guide will only serve as a reminder to something that you know to be true but have just forgotten out of desperation with all that is going on right now.First, please let me start to build the scenario in a fashion that I best relate to. I have been a Martial Artist for about 29 years and am also a Law Enforcement Officer in the State of New York. As many of you know, New York City is one of the toughest Cities in the US. I grew up in Bushwick, Brooklyn which is a neighborhood riddled with crime and corruption. That explains my reason for getting involved in the Martial Arts. I now teach a system that I have named Street Warrior Assault Tactics (SWAT for short) and the principles that I will outline here have been formulated by me not just for training but will also apply in all aspects of one's life. I will explain it first as it relates to defending oneself in the street and then will explain in detail how it relates to the topic at hand. You will see that this theory can be adopted to any situation and help us cope with a plethora of situations throughout our lives.Without any further hesitation, let me explain what I mean. I teach my students the Principles of the 3 A's. The 3 A's are:ATTACKADAPTADJUST AS NECESSARYLets look at ATTACK. I do not teach my students to have a defensive mindset. When you have a defensive mindset, you are always on the defense which is the equivalent of reacting at all times. When you always react to someone else's actions, they are always at an advantage because you are too busy reacting to formulate an attack of your own. Even if the opponent seemingly attacks first, we turn that around either with an aggressive block that injures the opponent or by simultaneously attacking as we initially block. Think about that for a second. When your attacker is pummeling you and all you are doing is trying to block, this feeds his aggression and confidence to attack longer and stronger. However, if at the initial point of aggression towards you the aggressor encounters pain, this shifts his mental reasoning to a defensive posture giving you the opportunity to continue your offensive ACTION until you neutralize the encounter all together.HOW THIS APPLIES TO SELLING:Your ATTACK as a seller is your business plan. What you sell, where to find your inventory, how you present it, your descriptions, the research you painstakingly do to find the most favorable keywords, categories, demand for your product etc. You work hard to gain the skills and knowledge you need to sell your products. Then you take your photos, write your titles and descriptions, create a pricing plan then proceed to list your items. These are all ACTIONS of ATTACK and very PROACTIVE. I am sure that this area is just fine so I will move on to the next principle. Now we'll look at ADAPT. During the heat of a battle, you must adapt to what is happening in direct relation to your actions. When you strike someone, the opponent's body will have an involuntary reaction to the pain that you will inflict upon them. I teach these reactions so that when my students strike someone, they will know exactly what the person will do so that they may line up their next attack accordingly, therefore creating a chain of attacks that will work in harmony with what is going on in front of them. For example, you do not want to strike someone in the groin when they are standing right in front of you or you will get struck in your face by their head as it inevitably gees downward as a result of your strike. Makes sense, right? It is invaluable to ADAPT under these conditions.HOW THIS APPLIES TO SELLING:Alright. We all Know that the market is always changing. You may be selling an item that is HOT and has been for some time now. All of a sudden, due to over-saturation in the marketplace, Buyers fickleness or just a new and improved version hitting the open market we gee to a crossroad that many of us have had to face more times than we care to say. The choices are, that's right, you guessed it, ADAPT or DIE. If you do not constantly change with these fluctuations in the market, then how will your business survive? That's simple. It won't! How is this different than having to ADAPT to any changes implemented by okay, the marketplace, the Buyers or any other factor that may arise? We cannot, must not pack it in every time that something changes. We have to roll with it and figure out NEW and BETTER ways of doing things. We cannot be defeated by any exterior force. But we sure can defeat ourselves if we are not careful. And what is the fastest sure way to defeat? The Answer: GIVING UP! You will never face defeat while you have a breath in you unless you give up. Then and only then you are defeated. Now let's move on to our final principle. Our final 'A' is ADJUST AS NECESSARY.Now we gee to the meat and potatoes of what this topic is all about. There inevitably will be times when a technique that we just threw all our energy and focus into either misses or just did not work on this individual that we are in a fight for our lives with. It could be due to the assailant being in a drug induced state, he could be an EDP (Emotionally Disturbed Person), or physical structure making him impervious to certain techniques (yet vulnerable to others). Whatever the reason, this is the least time where you would want to PANIC. It is here that you should remain the calmest and use your head. If you keep things in perspective, you will realize that this is an opportunity and not necessarily a drawback. Now you know that you have to step up your game and ADJUST your techniques to meet this new challenge. Whether this means escalating in force or using techniques that will control the assailant rather than try to hurt him or ending his life if yours is on the line. Drastic but necessary in a life or death encounter on the street. The point here is that you must be ready to ADJUST AS NECESSARY when things take an unexpected turn during the confrontation.HOW THIS APPLIES TO SELLING:You have ATTACKED, you have ADAPTED and now okay has thrown a monkey wrench into all your efforts. Do not PANIC! It is time to ADJUST AS NECESSARY. No more Downloadable Products? Make physical CDs for your Softwares or Graphics or whatever and I'll bet you can even demand more money than you could as a Downlaodable Product. Not showing up in BEST MATCH? Learn the factors that are keeping you out of searches and change them. The category is going down the tubes? Change categories. To every attack there is a counterattack. The more familiar version is " for every ACTION there is an equal and opposite REACTION". This happens to be true if we look deep and hard enough we can ADJUST our way around anything. There is always a way to acgeplish the goal that we have set forth and worked hard to achieve throughout our lives. We must not let any external force destroy what you have worked so hard to build. That is just not acceptable. None of us here are unfamiliar with extensive research, perseverance or hard work. We can discover how to make these changes work for us and make our business larger and stronger than it has ever been. We owe it to ourselves and our families to do this. So if you feel that the new changes have affected the effectiveness of your original tactics then lets change them and ADJUST AS NECESSARY. Good luck to all of you and I know we can work through this. Together, we are very strong. God Bless You All!
